Tell us about you:
I grew up in Anson County NC and started singing solos in church variety shows. Piano lessons and choir practice were part of our family’s weekly routine. In junior high I began playing oboe and continued enjoying band throughout college. After entering Winthrop University as a voice major, I graduated with a BME in Choral Music Education. Following college, I directed children, adult and youth choirs and handbell choirs. Once my two children were born, I became a licensed Kindermusik Educator and found my passion for teaching young children. I have recently retired from teaching elementary music education in Clover, SC with over 29 years experience in the classroom.
Why do you love teaching?
I love to teach because of my students’ enthusiasm when they “get it.” There is nothing like the student/teacher relationship that grows from weekly lessons. One of the very best decisions I ever made was joining the Downtown Music family as a private teacher!
