Tell us about you (other hobbies, where you are from etc.)
I have lived in York all my life. I graduated from YCHS, transferred from York Tech to Clemson. I graduated with a degree in Graphic Communication and began working at Woody’s in 2000. I played in a country band for about 14 years and had the pleasure to open for national acts and traveling to France twice to play music. I got married in 2018 and left Woody’s Music for more family friendly hours of work. I am currently playing banjo with the Filbert Strings at Filbert PCA. I also love country living, soccer and running!
Why do you love teaching?
I love to see a person’s face when they’re able to create that first musical sound out of an instrument! People may go their whole life thinking that they just can’t do it, then when they see how easy it can be, they just light up! I love that! Even if they’ve been playing for quite a while, there’s always mysteries to learn. We’re all given different gifts and I like to think mine is helping people play music.
